The story of Evangelion took place in the year 2015 when Tokyo-3, an underground city in Japan being attacked by gigantic being known as the Angels. 14 years old Shinji Ikari were summoned by his father who happened to be the Commander of paramilitary organization, NERV. Reluctantly, Shinji Ikari joined NERV to pilot the biomechanical mecha known as the Evangelion unit 01 to fight against the Angels.
Without any prior training in piloting the mecha, Evangelion unit 01 was defeated by the Angel indefinitely. However, the Evangelion unit 01 went into 'beserker' mode, in which it act on its own demonic act without the pilot controls. It took its revenge against the Angel and destroy it.
Along the story, Shinji Ikari was team up with other Evangelion pilots, Rei Ayanami who pilots the Unit 00, Asuka Langley Soryu who pilots the unit 02 in the quest to destroy the rest of the enemy Angels which is sent over to destroy Tokyo-3.

| Toji Suzuhara | He was a classmates of Shinji Ikari and was selected to be the pilot for EVA Unit 03. However, things turn up to be a dissaster when Unit 03 was infected and become the Angel. Shinji Ikari was forced to destroy Unit 03, with his friend inside it. | |
| Ryoji Kaji | Kaji happens to be the lover of Mitsato during the college time but were broke up. He work as an inspector for NERV but he is also an agent to the Japanese Ministry of the Interior. |
| Kaworu Nagisa | He is the FIFTH CHILD in replacement to Asuka Langley but appear to be the 17th Angel, Tabris. |
| Yui Ikari | Gendo Ikari's wife and Shinji's mother. Her existence happens to be inside the core computer system of NERV after her body and soul is absorbed in a failed experiment. |
